Biography

Umar is a Business Development and Investment Advisory Consultant with over 20 years of experience in investment structuring, enterprise development, private equity, and project finance. He has advised both public and private sector institutions on initiatives spanning agriculture and food systems, climate finance, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and SME development. His expertise includes blended finance, structured finance, investment facilitation, business strategy, value chain development, market systems development, and public policy advisory. Umar has worked with commercial banks, private equity funds, investment firms, development finance institutions, and donor-funded programmes to design investment frameworks, mobilise capital, strengthen enterprises, and promote sustainable economic growth. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Finance Sub-Committee for Nigeria's Economic Recovery and Growth Plan II (ERGP II) and has advised national and sub-national governments on investment policy and private sector development. Umar holds a BSc in Architecture, MSc in Construction Management, a Master's in Business Administration, and is a Certified Cost Consultant.
