Biography

Ubong Awah is a senior credit infrastructure specialist with IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. He has more than a decade of World Bank Group experience advising over a dozen Sub-Saharan African countries on credit reporting, secured transactions, collateral registries, and insolvency reform. His work helps governments, regulators, financial institutions, and development partners strengthen creditor confidence and expand finance for MSMEs, women-owned businesses, and underserved enterprises. A lawyer by training, he combines legal, regulatory, and private sector expertise with hands-on reform implementation. Before joining IFC in 2016, he worked across policy, corporate law, entrepreneurship, and financial sector innovation. Admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1990, he holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and is an alumnus of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
