Biography
Mr. Cashin is the founder and CEO of Pan African Capital Group (PACG), an investment firm focused on financial services and renewable energy across Africa. Since 2004, he has led PACG in deploying permanent capital through direct investments, private equity, and advisory services, with a strong emphasis on Liberia’s economic growth.
Under his leadership, PACG has transformed International Bank (Liberia) Limited into one of the country’s leading commercial banks with approximately $200M in assets under management and expanded Liberia’s largest insurance provider, the Insurance Company of Africa. PACG is also an investor in one of Ghana's leading investment banks, Databank, with over $1B in assets under management. In addition to investments in the solar and electric vehicle markets, PACG is currently launching a biomass company, Deenam, to produce and supply rubberwood pellets to the European market out of Liberia. Prior to PACG, Steve co-founded and managed Modern Africa Fund Managers, where he oversaw the Modern Africa Growth and Investment Fund, a $100M diversified private equity fund.
In addition to his investment work, Steve brings extensive governance experience. He serves on several nonprofit boards, currently siting on the board of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and of the Jesuit Refugee Service International and other organizations advancing development and inclusion. Previously, Steve served as Chairman of Africare, the Vice Chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa, and on the board of the African Wildlife Foundation. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Bretton Woods Committee and the Economic Club of Washington, D.C.
Steve began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania. He holds a degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an MBA from Boston College. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and three adult children.
