Simon Gichuki

Simon Gichuki is a Senior Manager at the Bank Supervision Department, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). He has worked in Bank Supervision Department since joining CBK in Dec. 2003. Before joining CBK, he worked as an auditor with an international audit firm, Ernst & Young, between 1999 and 2003. Prior to that, he briefly worked as a Lecturer in Mathematics, Accounting and Economics at Maharishi University of Management (1998-1999). He holds a Master Degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi (UON), Bachelor of Arts (Mathematics and Economics) - First Class Honors (UON), Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA). He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He spearheaded the computerization of the on-site inspection process at CBK-Bank Supervision Department in 2007. He was a member of the team that reviewed CBK Prudential and Risk Management Guidelines for the Banking Sector in 2012 that incorporated some elements of Basel III. He is a bank supervision consultant for Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) and Comesa Monetary Institute where he has trained central banks’ supervisors from East Africa and Comesa regions on bank supervisory topics such as Credit Risks, Basel III, and IFRS 9. He has published a User Guide on IFRS 9. Gichuki is married to Anastasia and is a father of 3 boys.
