Michael Kwame Amoako-Atuobi

Michael Kwame Amoako-Atuobi is a highly accomplished banking and financial services professional with extensive experience in banking supervision, regulation, resolution, and financial sector reform. He is currently a Divisional Head at the Banking Supervision Department, responsible for product approvals, licensing, and policy development and implementation aimed at strengthening the resilience, soundness, and effectiveness of Ghana’s banking sector. Before his current position, Michael served as a Bank Examiner at the Banking Supervision Department where he led and participated in numerous on-site and off-site examinations of banks and other financial institutions. In this capacity, he provided strategic oversight and technical leadership to examination teams, assessing institutions’ financial soundness, risk profiles, governance structures, and compliance with prudential and regulatory requirements. He was also a key figure in the establishment of the Resolution and Restructuring Department at the Bank of Ghana where he served as the Deputy Head. During this period, he contributed to policy formulation, resolution planning, crisis management and execution of reforms that reshaped Ghana’s banking landscape. He holds an MBA in Finance and a BSc in Administration in Accounting, both from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), Ghana, and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom. In addition, he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners (CIRIP), Ghana.
