Biography

Hon. Kamara is a distinguished economist and the current Director General of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), a position he assumed in January 2025. He served twice as Minister of Finance and Development Planning and as Deputy Governor for Economic Policy at the Central Bank of Liberia. Also, he served as an International Consultant, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Sub-Regional Office (SRO) for West Africa in Niamey, Niger, contributing to the development of regional instruments such as the ECOWAS Vision 2050 Framework and SDG’s Performance Scorecard for Member States. He has also served as Health Financing Advisor, Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), a specialized institution of the African Union Commission. hON. Kamara holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon, and an MSc in Applied Economics with concentration in Financial Economics from Johns Hopkins University in the USA.
